Dorian Yates Bodybuilder

Dorian Yates Interview

dorian yates bodybuilder Q: As a small child, what dreams did you have, and who were your hero's?

A: As a child I remember I was fascinated with Tarzan and Ali was world HW champ, a little later the Bruce Lee movies came out and I guess he was my hero. Later on it was Arnold, Robbie Robinson, Mike Mentzer, Casey Viator.

Q: As you grew up, how did you go about realising your dreams?

A: Dreams were realised one step at a time and I didn't start out to be Mr O, just to achieve some success.

Q: How did you keep going and keep the inner self belief in yourself when people around you made you feel as if you were not good enough or that you had no chance and so were just wasting your time?

A: I always thought positive and try to keep away from negative influences - people.

Q: Who did you turn to in your darkest hour of need?

A: My ex wife Debbie was great support during any dark periods in my career.

Q: Can you explain how it felt when your dreams started to become a reality? Was there one moments when you said, "I've made it? "

A: I think when I went to New York in my first pro show and achieved 2nd place I knew I was on the right track. Next year I won and then I knew I could be Mr O soon.

Q: What was the feeling like when they first played the national anthem just for you

A: I don't know if I ever had the national anthem played and if I did I wouldn't care as I don't believe in the Queen having authority or nationalism. I am a citizen of the world.

Q: How do you maintain success once you have it?

A: My best advice for someone to succeed is to have a plan with short and long term goals to follow one step at a time. You must have desire!
